Optional. With a key, the results become HMACs, which are used to sign and verify messages.
Optional. Paste a hash you were given, such as a download checksum, to see if it matches the text.

To check a checksum, paste it into Hash to check.
Questions about the Hash Generator
A hash is a fixed-length fingerprint made from some data. The same text always gives the same hash, and even a tiny change gives a completely different one, so hashes are used to check that data has not changed.
It shows SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, and SHA-512 together. Add an optional secret key to get an HMAC for each one instead.
Paste the checksum you were given into Hash to check. The tool tells you which algorithm it matches, ignoring upper and lower case.
