Questions about the Meta Tag Generator
Meta tags are lines in the head of a page that tell search engines and social sites how to show it: the title and description in search results, and the title, text, and picture on a shared link.
Search results show about 60 characters of a title and about 160 of a description, cut by width, so the end of a longer one may be cut off. The tool counts for you and warns when one is too long or too short.
Open Graph tags, which start with og:, control how a link looks when it is shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and many chat apps. X also reads them, so the tool adds only the card type and your handle for X.
The noindex tag asks search engines to keep a page out of their results. Use it for pages such as thank-you pages or drafts. The tool leaves it off by default.
